Ideal Temperature for a Commercial Slush Machine?

While water freezes at zero degrees Celsius, slushy machines require lower temperatures, and we’ll explain why later. Most machines need to be between -2 and -3 degrees Celsius in order to produce the right slushy consistency. After plugging in a slushy maker and pouring in all the right ingredients, the machine should reach the necessary temperature within an hour. Smaller machines will probably take less time, and larger ones could take longer.

Why Is This the Ideal Temperature for a Commercial Slush Machine?

Your commercial slush machine should be around -2 degrees Celsius to create the necessary ice crystals that will form from the water and sugar syrups. Traditional syrups require a lower freezing point than water because of the sugar content, which is why your appliance’s temperature needs to stay in the negatives. If the machine is too cold, you’ll produce flavored ice instead of flavored slush, which isn’t what customers want. Maintaining that ideal temperature is important for providing the right kind of frozen treat.

Does Carbonation Affect This Temperature?

We mentioned a carbonated slush maker earlier, and carbonation does affect the freezing point of water, although not much more than sugar syrup. If you want to offer carbonated slushies, then your machine will need to be between -3 and -4 degrees Celsius, as the carbon dioxide used to carbonate drinks requires a lower freezing point than still drinks. This one to two-degree difference is negligible to most people, but carbonated products are very different than still products, so offering carbonated slushies will bring in more customers.

The ideal temperature for a commercial slush machine is -2 to -3 degrees Celsius, while the ideal temperature for a carbonated commercial slush machine is -3 to -4 degrees Celsius. Whichever product you choose to serve, make sure the appliance is at the right temperature so you can serve your customers the perfect treat every time.
